Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children withcritical illnesses. We work withthesekidsandtheir families to grant unforgettable wishes – like making unicorns fly, sending kids to the moontoand even helping Australia's youngest ever cricket captain don the baggy green!
The friendly team at the Perth South Branchare looking for an enthusiastic individual to join Make-A-Wish as the volunteer Secretary.
As the volunteer Secretary yourmain focuswill be to:
* Support the branch volunteer President in creating the monthly meetingagenda.
* Create and distributeminutes of branch meetings.
* Work with Head Office to organise the Office Bearer elections for your branch every 2 years.
In addition to the above responsibilities of thevolunteerSecretary,you'llalso be part of the volunteer team helping children who are fighting serious illnesses by:
* Attendingyour branch meetingson a weekday evening once a month.
* Helping local wish families by capturing their child's unique wish and bringing it to life throughdifferentstagesof the Wish Journey.
* Supporting fundraising and events, fromtrivia nightsand sausage sizzles to gala balls and bake-offs. Please note that events vary by branch location.
* Raising awareness and support in your local community, helping drive our reach and impact to achieve our mission.
Before applying, pleaseconsider the following key requirements of a volunteer:
* Must be 18 years of age or over.
* Commit toat least 12 months as a volunteer to ensure consistency for wish children and their families.
* Complete acomprehensive background check, including interview, reference checks, a Working with Children Check (or equivalent for your State/Territory) and a National Background Check.
* Complete comprehensive online induction training within the first 6 weeks,so at least a basic level of technical skill isrequired, plus access to a personal email and a suitable device, such as a laptop.
* Attendbranch meetingson a weekday evening once a month.
* Have access to reliable transporttoattend meetings, wishes and fundraising events.
