MD Fresh Produce Darwin Pty Ltd is a leading supplier of wholesale and retail fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, operating a retail supermarket business in Darwin, Australia.
We need an in‐house Accountant responsible for financial compliance and economic growth of the company.
Responsibilities
* Directly report to the director.
* Analyse, interpret and report on financial matters.
* Create company financial and audit reports for presentation to the owners.
* Maintain all paperwork in order and ensure financial reports and statements comply with government statutory and company audit policies.
* Familiarise with recent accounting software and suggest efficient computer‐based accounting systems to generate accurate financial reports and check for financial fraud.
* Formulate monthly and year‐end budget policies and advise on tax liabilities.
* Maintain, analyse and prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
* Select, implement and modify accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
* Prepare business plans, operational plans, financial plans, cash‐flow forecasts and profit projections; analyse associated financial risks in recent projects.
* Project future liabilities and appraise cash flow for investment in projects.
* Meet banks, brokers and financial institutes to procure finance/loans for new projects and provide advice to management on best financial deals.
* Analyse operating cost of the business, suggest expenditure budget to keep the company profitable.
* Prepare year‐end payment summaries, profit and loss reports and detailed company financials.
* Prepare monthly payroll tax and quarterly/annual BAS.
* Prepare year‐end statutory accounts, reporting, internal audit and tax requirements.
* Maintain the financial position of the company, analysing data to determine the state of the company's financial situation.
* Advise management on sale and purchase of businesses to increase company financial capacity and equity.
* Comply with federal, state and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and recent legislation, enforcing adherence and advising management on needed actions.
* Analyse data to understand where the company is generating and losing revenue and formulate measures to control insolvency.
* Examine proficiency of the software programs used to organise data.
* Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary.
* Advise assisting staff to record correct data in the computer system to generate accurate budgeting, cash flow and audit reports.
* Ensure the company makes legitimate tax and depreciation claims as allowed by tax laws.
* Generate financial reports that display the company's profits, equity and cash flow.
* Summarise current financial statements by collecting information; prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other statutory reports.
* Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
* Other general accounting duties.
Qualifications
* Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Accounting or a closely related field.
* Minimum of one year of full‐time relevant work experience.
