Student Counsellor Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and friendly team, providing specialist support to students at the University of Sydney. As a Student Counsellor, you will deliver one-to-one psychological counselling to university students, develop group workshop programs, and liaise with administrative and faculty arms.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing psychological support to students, including those from equity groups and international students
* Developing and implementing outreach programs and project work within an academic context
* Contributing to Quality Assurance mechanisms by collecting relevant statistics and data
* Cultivating relationships with internal service providers, administrative, and faculty arms
* Participating in professional development activities, supervision, and staff meetings
* Providing crisis intervention as needed, including liaison with security personnel, mental health teams, and external service providers
Requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in Clinical Psychology (preferred), Psychology, Social Work, or Mental Health Nursing, with relevant post-degree experience
* Registration with the appropriate association as a psychologist, clinical psychologist, social worker, or mental health nurse
* A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one
* Core competencies in mental health assessment and management using evidence-based interventions
* Expertise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of biopsychosocial problems
* Commitment to best-practice short-term interventions within stepped-care wellbeing and student experience frameworks
* Ability to provide therapy in multiple languages (Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and/or Korean)
Benefits
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract until 4th December 2026, with a salary between $126,065 - $141,171 + 17% Superannuation.
