About the Role
As Director of Sales at Rydges South Bank, you’ll own the commercial performance of the hotel – setting the strategy, leading the team and driving revenue growth across all segments. Based on-property and reporting to the General Manager, you’ll work closely with EVT’s National Sales Team to grow market share, deepen key account relationships and position Rydges South Bank as a premium destination in one of Brisbane’s most exciting precincts. With Brisbane’s profile rising fast ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games, this is a rare opportunity to shape the commercial trajectory of a landmark hotel at exactly the right moment.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, execute and oversee the hotel’s end‑to‑end sales strategy, with a clear focus on growing market share and delivering strong commercial outcomes across rate and occupancy.
* Drive EVT’s vertical selling approach, consistently cross‑selling the broader portfolio and collaborating with Marketing, Loyalty and Digital teams to activate new revenue opportunities.
* Manage a portfolio of key accounts across corporate, conference and events segments – proactively growing wallet share, converting lapsed business and sourcing new accounts through site inspections and industry engagement.
* Lead and develop the hotel sales team through targeted coaching, clear performance expectations and regular feedback conversations that recognise achievement and support growth.
* Partner with the F&B Director to identify and deliver strategic activations, partnerships and collaborative concepts that drive footfall and incremental outlet revenue.
* Maintain a strong read of the competitive landscape, sharing market intelligence with the GM and team to inform strategic decisions.
* Contribute to monthly sales reports, quarterly business reviews and the annual business plan and budget.
* Champion the hotel’s positioning as a one‑stop standalone destination within the precinct, driving initiatives that elevate the property’s profile and perceived premium standing in Brisbane’s hospitality market.
What You’ll Bring
* Demonstrated experience leading a hotel sales team with accountability for revenue performance across corporate and C&E segments.
* Minimum three years in a senior commercial role or equivalent, with proven ability to grow key accounts and convert new business.
* Strong commercial acumen with a track record in strategic planning, goal‑setting and executing a defined sales strategy in a hotel environment.
* Excellent communication skills – confident presenting, influencing stakeholders and representing EVT across all client interactions.
* Proficiency in CRM systems and hotel sales reporting tools, with a commitment to data accuracy.
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Hospitality or Marketing (desirable).
