Veterinary Nurse/Vet Technician
Yulong is seeking a highly motivated and adaptive individual to join our team as a full time Veterinary Nurse/Vet Technician.
Yulong is comprised of two farms all of which are an easy drive to Melbourne. The breeding side of the operation, Yulong Stud, is located in the beautiful wine region of Nagambie. Whilst the spelling farm, Yulong Park, located in Bayles, is a short drive to the Mornington Peninsula.
Yulong is a thoroughbred stud based in Nagambie, Victoria. Spread over 4,000 acres and across four adjoining properties, Yulong currently has eight resident stallions, 700 broodmares with over 350 foals to yearlings. Consigning yearlings at all major sales throughout Australia and a racing team of 200 plus horses gives the veterinarians great job variety and exposure to all aspects of the business.
Veterinary Nurse/Vet Technician
Duties will include:
Assisting stud veterinarian in daily procedures and management of horses including:
Foaling mares and administering medical treatment to foals as well as attending to medical and health needs of mares as required, including night foaling
Calling a veterinarian when mare or foal requires intensive care
Providing pre
and post-natal care of broodmares and foals
Responsible for overseeing aspects of breeding stock care
Managing quarantine procedures in quarantine areas
Ensuring welfare of horses, mares, and foals in the quarantine areas
Consulting with external and internal veterinarians regarding the care and condition of mares and foals in quarantine, walk-in mares, and mares on the main farm
Drenching and vaccinating horses when required.
Keeping all appropriate records on mares and foals
The salary will be above award - in the range of $65,000 to $75,000 per annum depending upon the skill set and level of responsibility.
Essential Skills:
All applicants must have a minimum of 3-years full time professional experience in the role or a relevant qualification and at least 2 years full time professional experience in the role.
