Overview
Voluntary Assisted Dying Medical Lead - Staff Specialist / Senior Staff Specialist position based at Canberra Hospital, Garran. Part time (16 hours per week) permanent role.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical expertise and VAD support for individuals, families and health professionals, including VAD Authorised Practitioners.
- Lead, engage with and train clinical colleagues on VAD and support formal VAD service delivery once VAD legislation commences.
- Provide medical leadership and clinical oversight of the implementation, governance and preparation for operationalising VAD across the CHS Network.
- Maintain robust research links with the ANU, University of Canberra and the Australian Catholic University; participate in postgraduate teaching programs.
- Collaborate with other health professionals and services involved in end-of-life options.
Conjoint/Academic Position
The preferred candidate may be considered for a conjoint position in ANU at an academic level commensurate with qualifications and experience. The academic position will be held for the duration of Canberra Health Services employment and will be subject to regular performance reviews. No remuneration is attached to the University position. The employee will be responsible to the University on academic matters and to Canberra Health Services for clinical/research matters. Requirements before commencement
- Hold Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
- Meet credentialing requirements and receive an Endorsed scope of clinical practice from MDAAC.
- Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
- Prior to commencing, have current Working with Vulnerable People clearance.
