Experience with COBOL is advantageous but not essential.In this role, you will support and maintain a legacy COBOL application alongside modern .NET components, while also contributing to ongoing enhancements. You'll work closely with developers, business analysts, and system administrators to ensure the stability and performance of critical systems in a dynamic environment.This is a permanent Adelaide-based role, requiring onsite attendance at least 2 days per week. Participation in a rotational on-call roster for after-hours support is required, with overtime compensation provided.This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative, close-knit team and expand your technical expertise across both legacy and modern systems.What will keep you busyProvide support for a COBOL-based legacy system with .NET components, including troubleshooting, bug fixing, and performance improvementsDeliver minor enhancements across applications using COBOL, .NET, C#, SQL Server, and web servicesInvestigate and resolve production issues, including participation in on-call supportMonitor system health and performance to ensure high availability and reliabilityCollaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and contribute to technical design documentationManage support tickets, including incidents and service requestsParticipate in server patching, deployments, and implementation activitiesBalance support work with enhancement tasks and small project contributionsMaintain best practices in code quality, testing, and deploymentThe skills you will bring5–6 years of hands-on experience in .NET developmentStrong proficiency in C# and .NET (including Web Services/WCF)Solid experience with SQL Server, including performance tuning and data analysisGood understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including design patterns and methodologies (Agile/Waterfall)Experience developing and maintaining web applications using .NET Framework 4.8, with a focus on API developmentStrong PowerShell scripting skills for automation (deployments, monitoring, batch processing)Familiarity with Windows Server administration, IIS, and SSL certificate managementExperience with source control systems such as Git and TFS, and exposure to Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelinesExperience with Micro Focus Managed COBOL (desirable, not mandatory)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentExcellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholdersStrong customer service mindsetYour working environmentAt DXC Technology, we believe strong connections and community are key to our success.
