Two permanent OO4 Ranger positions are available within the Boodjamulla Work Unit, located in north-west Queensland. This unit includes Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park, Camooweal Caves National Park, and other reserves.
As an OO4 Ranger, you will support the Ranger-in-Charge and 2IC in planning, delivering, and reporting on asset, pest, and fire management projects, as well as rehabilitating the natural environment. These roles require a reasonable level of physical fitness and the ability to adapt to on-ground operational needs.
As a OO4 Ranger, you must be able to:
* communicate clearly
* maintain a positive and supportive approach
* work effectively in a team, as a supervisor and alone
* undertake general estate development and protection duties
* operate and maintain minor plant and equipment
* assist in the development and implementation of the annual works program
* undertake law enforcement and compliance duties
* provide general information in response to queries from park visitors and other stakeholders
* assist with emergency response
* monitor workplace health and safety
* undertake administrative duties including compiling and maintaining records and procuring goods and services
* support and promote the interests of First Nations people.
To undertake these OO4 roles, you will need to be adaptable and flexible to on ground operational requirements.
Practical skills in operating and maintaining small power equipment and tools for asset maintenance are essential. A strong work ethic, effective communication, and interpersonal skills are also critical. Building trusted relationships with First Nations partners and your team is a must.
