About the Position
School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland seeks an academic at Level B or Level C to undertake a teaching and research position in mathematics or statistics. The role is open to all areas of mathematics and statistics, with particular encouragement for applied mathematicians, computational mathematicians and statisticians.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, coordinate and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including innovative curriculum design and student assessment.
* Provide academic counselling and ensure teaching practices align with University standards.
* Establish and sustain an independent or collaborative research program, publish high‐quality research outputs and seek and manage competitive research funding.
* Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students and support a positive, high‐performing research culture.
* Actively contribute to School, Faculty and University service, foster partnerships with industry, government and the wider community, and demonstrate UQ values through collegial leadership and collaboration.
Qualifications and Experience
* PhD or equivalent qualification in mathematics, statistics or a closely related discipline.
* Evidence of effective teaching practice across undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes, including course coordination and curriculum development (Level C).
* A developing (Level B) or established (Level C) research profile with high‐quality publications aligned to discipline norms.
* Demonstrated success or strong potential in seeking and managing external research funding.
* Experience supervising Honours and/or Higher Degree by Research students, or a clear trajectory towards this capability.
* A collaborative approach to academic citizenship, including participation in internal service roles and external engagement activities.
* The ability to work inclusively and productively within a diverse academic community, recognising performance relative to opportunity.
