About the role
The Line 1, Risk and Compliance Manager role manages the implementation, execution and monitoring of the risk and compliance management framework, partnering with the business to ensure that current and emerging risks are appropriately identified, assessed and monitored. This role sits within the Data & Analytics division, which includes Data & AI Governance.
Your responsibilities
* Support the business in the development, execution and monitoring of remedial actions for operational loss and compliance incidents.
* Perform root cause analysis, identify preventive actions, and ensure timely resolution of operational loss and compliance issues.
* Facilitate risk identification and control assessments as part of key strategic projects and business changes.
* Conduct workshops to undertake risk and control assessments, maintaining and updating relevant documentation.
* Act as an advisor on risk and compliance matters, guiding the development of processes aligned with the Risk Management Framework.
* Monitor key risk indicators, and report on internal control performance to stakeholders.
* Strengthen the divisional risk culture by increasing awareness of risk management and compliance practices and preparing performance reports.
About you
* Relevant qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in disciplines such as law, risk and compliance, analytics, or related fields.
* Extensive experience: Proven track record in audit or risk and compliance management within complex, matrixed general insurance or financial services organisations.
* Strong analytical skills: Demonstrated ability to analyse diverse data sets, identify patterns, trends, and connections, and derive actionable insights to inform decisions and solutions.
* Technical expertise: In-depth understanding of the design and operational effectiveness of controls, ensuring robust risk management practices.
* Innovative problem-solving: Highly developed problem‐solving abilities paired with a curious and creative mindset to address challenges effectively.
* Strategic insight: Exceptional capability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights, and evaluate options for sound decision‐making.
* Organisational excellence: Strong planning and prioritisation skills to manage tasks and projects efficiently.
* Exceptional communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels with clarity and impact.
