Statewide Paediatric Training Program BASIC TRAINEE 2027
Paediatric training in Tasmania offers comprehensive exposure to general paediatrics and subspecialties, with rotations at Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital, and Northwest Regional Hospital.
Responsibilities
The Registrar provides day‐to‐day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the hospital and provides after‐hours emergency cover. Rotations include inpatient general paediatrics, neonatal and paediatric intensive care, paediatric emergency, paediatric outpatients, paediatric surgery and paediatric subspecialty care (oncology, respiratory, neurology).
Qualifications
General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable).
Successful completion of required pre‐employment checks: conviction checks for violence, sex‐related offences, serious drug offences, crime involving dishonesty; identification check; disciplinary action check.
Ability to meet EEA requirements for Indigenous applicants per framework.
Contract and Compensation
* Fixed‐term, full‐time, 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training) from 1 February 2027 to 7 February 2028; 24‐month contract negotiable.
* Salary: $134,930 per annum (Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022).
* Position level: Medical Practitioner Level 5 (Registrar).
* Award: Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
