The Opportunity
As Senior HSE Advisor, you will lead a collaborative and experienced team to maintain safe, legal and logical systems and provide effective controls for identified and managing risks. Drawing on your extensive expertise, you will provide strategic advice, develop and improve systems, and provide necessary operational support to achieve health and safety excellence across our workplaces.
About the Role
We are seeking an individual with significant demonstrated experience motivating and leading a team of senior health and safety professionals. As Senior HSE Advisor, you will be a dependable point of inquiry and a trusted advisor across our Australian operations, expertly advising on best practices across project lifecycle process including planning, implementation, monitoring, improvements and demobilisation.
Responsibilities
* Support and drive the implementation of the Thiess Governance System (TGS) and the Project Governance System (PGS).
* Lead an experienced and motivated team to maintain safe, legal, and logical systems to provide effective controls for identified risks in the business.
* Offer expertise leading operational safety disciplines and performance beyond compliance, significant incident management experience and possess an in depth understanding of relevant national and state health and safety legislation.
* Be responsible for demonstrating Thiess values and leadership philosophy.
* Stay committed to meeting performance targets and proactively mitigating risks whilst delivering tangible outcomes that seamlessly align with Thiess overall strategic health and safety framework.
* Possess the intuitive ability to influence a safety-focused culture whilst flexing your focus to adjust to the every-changing needs of the business with a considered and collaborative approach.
* Offer experience across the development and implementation of ISO based management systems within mining, oil, gas, construction or equivalent industry.
* Be a highly organised person who can guide a team of highly competent individuals to ensure that operations meet the standards and policies established by Thiess and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications
* Completed a tertiary degree in health and safety or have gained extensive relevant experience providing strategic advice, developing systems, and providing necessary operational support to achieve health and safety excellence across a vast workforce.
* Expertly coaching and mentoring health and safety and operational leaders (e.g. General Managers, Head of Functions, Operational Managers, and Project Managers) within the business, ensuring business values are upheld and safety leadership is continually improved upon as a priority.
