About us:

At Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers (QFVG), we’re proud to be the voice of Queensland’s commercial fruit, vegetable, and nut growers - and we’ve been doing it for over 100 years.

We’re here to back our growers every step of the way. Whether it’s lobbying for better policies, making sense of workplace relations, or delivering hands-on support through our project delivery arm Growcom, everything we do is about building a stronger, smarter, and more sustainable horticulture industry.

From navigating compliance and climate challenges to unlocking new opportunities for innovation and growth, we deliver real-world solutions with a human touch. Our team combines deep industry knowledge with a practical mindset — and we’re not afraid to get our boots dirty if it means helping growers thrive.

If you’re passionate about the future of fresh produce, we’d love to work with you.

About the role:

We’re on the lookout for a Program Manager to steer the Farm Business Resilience Program (FBRP) – a big-picture initiative designed to embed whole-of-farm planning, strengthen risk management, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the industry.

This isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about sparking long-term change: giving growers the tools, confidence, and support they need to make smarter decisions and keep their farms thriving.

You’ll work alongside industry groups, regional partners, and government to keep the program fresh, relevant, and easy for growers to engage with. You’ll also keep your eye on the bigger picture – making sure the Hort360 platform evolves with grower needs, and that our annual insights tell a compelling story of progress and impact.

If you love connecting the dots between strategy and delivery, can juggle partnerships with ease, and get a kick out of helping an industry move forward, this is the role for you.

Your focus areas:

- Leading program planning, delivery and governance – keeping milestones, budgets, and subcontractors on track.
- Driving extension and engagement activities like farm walks, workshops, and one-on-one support that reach more growers.
- Building partnerships with industry groups, regional partners, and government to boost delivery.
- Overseeing monitoring, evaluation and learning; tracking adoption, and reporting on outcomes.
- Supporting and coaching facilitators and contractors to keep plans clear, KPIs sharp, and momentum strong.

Key Outcomes

- Adoption & Impact: Growers adopt practical risk management practices and demonstrate improved capability across priority areas, leading to measurable improvements in farm resilience and decision-making.
- Engagement: Increased reach into priority/previously disengaged cohorts; strong participation in events and one-to-one support.
- Collaboration & leverage: Active partner network with technical contributions evidenced.
- Governance: On-time milestone delivery, accurate reporting/acquittals, managed risks, and budget on track.

What your day might look like (illustrative):

- Kick off with a team catch-up: review milestones, track progress and plan priorities for the week.
- Head out to a farm visit or workshop, seeing firsthand how growers are implementing risk management practices and gathering feedback.
- Connect with partners and stakeholders over coffee or a virtual session, exploring opportunities for collaboration and shared outcomes.
- Finish the day reviewing program insights, monitoring adoption metrics, and planning next steps to keep the program delivering real impact.

Why you’ll love working with us:

- Lead a hands-on, high-impact program that makes a real difference on farm.
- Join a small, capable team with supportive leadership and genuine cross-sector collaboration.
- Enjoy flexible work that combines meaningful time in the field and with partner engagement.
- Make an impact: shape a project that delivers real results for growers and their communities, with autonomy, variety, and a values-led supportive team behind you.

Here's what you'll bring to the role:

- Passion for horticulture and a clear understanding of what Queensland producers face, shaping work that delivers real on-farm value.
- Proven track record in delivering multi-stakeholder NRM or ag-extension programs with measurable adoption outcomes.
- Creative and exploratory mindset, able to spark engagement and drive meaningful change with time-pressed growers.
- Strong relationship-builder, able to turn engagement with government, industry bodies and growers into co-delivery and adoption.
- Experienced facilitator, confident running farm walks, workshops, and one-to-one sessions with adult-learning and behaviour-change approaches.
- Skilled in program governance: planning, budgeting, procurement, risk, and contractor management, particularly in government-funded programs.
- Robust MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning) capability: able to define indicators, track practice change, and report clearly using CRMs spreadsheets, or tailored communication.
- Proactive and collaborative, identifying opportunities for funding or co-funding that deliver measurable benefits for growers and their communities.
- Excellent communicator: clear, plain-English writing and speaking, comfortable presenting in the field or at forums.

Mandatory Requirements:

- You’ll need a current C-class driver’s licence and be comfortable with regular travel across Queensland, occasional interstate trips, and some after-hours events.
- Ongoing right to work in Australia; commitment to WHS and safe fieldwork.
