The Opportunity

We are seeking an IR Specialist to join our IR & Workplace Risk Team on a fixed‐term basis. Reporting to the Head of IR & Workplace Risk and working closely with the Senior IR Specialist, this role provides hands‐on exposure to complex and meaningful IR and HR work across a large, diverse organisation. Whether you are an experienced HR/IR professional or an emerging practitioner looking to deepen your IR capability, this role offers the opportunity to make a real impact through high‐level advisory work, investigations, policy development, Injury Management, Work Cover compliance and risk management.

* Policy, procedure, and framework development
* Data analysis, reporting, and organisational insights

Core Workplace Objectives

* Support investigations into misconduct, behavioural issues, complaints, disputes, and grievances within a large, diverse, and complex organisational environment.
* Analyse weekly data and prepare high‐level reports to identify operational and organisational themes, trends, and systemic issues.
* Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the IR, WHS, Risk, and HR frameworks.
* Research and analyse employee relations trends and legislative changes at both national and local levels, providing clear reporting and insights.
* Produce timely Workplace Relations alerts and briefings for the Executive team, summarising legislative and case law developments, and changes to Awards and employment conditions affecting Indie.
* Ensure consistent interpretation and application of industrial instruments, legislation, policy, and procedural standards.
* Provide high‐level IR advice and coaching to People Leaders and management in line with best practice, legislative requirements, sustainable outcomes, and Company values.
* Support IR projects by identifying improvement opportunities and delivering actionable insights to strengthen organisational capability.
* Embed best‐practice compliance and risk‐management principles across IR and WHS activities.

Key Responsibilities

* Partner with regional leadership teams to provide consultancy, advice, and support on HR, WHS, Workplace Risk and IR matters.
* Provide daily operational support to the IR & WHS Team and the Head of IR & Workplace Risk.
* Conduct end‐to‐end, fair, and confidential workplace investigations into misconduct, grievances, and policy breaches, including interviewing employees and gathering evidence.
* Draft clear and structured meeting scripts, talking points, and briefing notes for Executives to support consistent and legally sound communication during meetings linked to investigations, performance processes, IR matters, and organisational change.
* Prepare concise, high‐quality investigation reports and produce industrial and workplace relations updates for the Executive team, covering investigation outcomes, employment law developments, Awards, and employment conditions relevant to Indie.
* Coach and support managers and leaders on complaint management, performance management, best‐practice documentation, procedural fairness, and sound decision‐making.
* Prepare high‐level monthly reports, IR reviews, and advisory documentation.
* Contribute to the review, development, and consistent implementation of company‐wide policies, procedures, and systems.
* Develop and maintain IR, Workplace Risk, and WHS standard operating procedures, templates, and supporting documentation.
* Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and support the implementation and delivery of organisational systems and processes.
* Monitor and respond to enquiries in designated HR and WHS mailboxes as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

* Hold a bachelor's degree in human resources (or related field or experience), with knowledge and understanding of IR and HR principles.
* A minimum of 2 years' HR Generalist experience, with demonstrated exposure to Industrial Relations matters.
* Demonstrate some genuine IR Experience.
* A solutions‐focused, proactive, and adaptable approach to change.
* An ability to occasionally travel interstate as required in accordance with operational requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‐paced environment that adopts change.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Additional Requirements

* Annual National Police Checks (issued no more than 3 months prior to offer date).
* Working with Children's Check within relevant state/s.

Remuneration

Remuneration will be offered in accordance with the Indie Education Enterprise Agreement 2026 – 2029, Level 8 ($112,964 PA) – Noting this role is a fixed‐term contract to cover parental leave (Fixed‐term until 18 December 2026).
