About the role
Reporting to the Lead Medical Officer and as part of a national Medical Officer team, this position combines office, donor centre, and home‐based work. The successful candidate will be required to attend the office and donor centres regularly each week and maintain a rostered telephone advisory line.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing medical guidance to optimise donor, recipient and blood component safety in collaboration with medical specialists.
* Maintaining a rostered telephone advisory line, offering timely clinical advice.
* Participating in research to support medical policy development.
* Liaising with nurses, administrative staff, scientists and other technical staff to ensure a coordinated approach.
* Adapting to flexible working hours, including evenings and weekend shifts after an initial training period.
Requirements
* At least 2 years of clinical experience.
* Full registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and in diverse cross‐functional teams.
* High proficiency in information technology, including MS Office, Blood Service databases, telephony applications, and the Blood Service intranet.
