Qualifications
* Trade qualified.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
* Strong knowledge of automotive repair and painting techniques.
Responsibilities
Spray Painter
* Read and understand worksheet and seek clarification from managers when required.
* Sand new panels and prep repaired panels for primer.
* Prime repaired panels, then sand primed panels.
* Mask car for booth and set up panels on painting stands.
* Mix base coat and top coat (clear coat) to match specifications.
* Apply base coat and clear coat using spray gun.
* Unmask cars and polish painted panels.
* Brush touch-ups on bolts and chips.
* Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and company policies.
Panel Beater
* Read and understand worksheet and seek clarification from managers when required.
* Dismantle allocated vehicle, placing nuts, bolts and clips in labeled trays.
* Photograph vehicle after dismantling.
* Record relevant notes and fill out supplementary parts order forms.
* Submit parts orders to Parts Manager.
* Notify appropriate personnel if repairs cannot be completed within the required timeframe.
* Perform body repairs including welding panels and dent repair, following manufacturer repair methods.
* Complete body repairs within given timeframe or as per company/industry standards.
* Reassemble vehicle after painting.
* Dispose replaced panels and cardboard in designated bins.
* Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and company policies.
Insurance Loss Adjuster / Estimator / Production Manager
* Deal with customers, receive vehicles, and discuss jobs with them.
* Explain process and scope of work to customers; answer questions.
* Check in vehicles, inspect parts, photograph damage, install seat covers, etc.
* Write estimates to determine repair costs for insurance companies using software.
* Assign work to technicians.
* Negotiate repair costs with insurance assessors.
* Monitor average repair costs, keeping them within targets.
* Ensure manufacturer procedures and repair methods are followed.
* Manage bookings in and out of the business, ensuring optimal workload.
* Conduct final quality inspections post-repair before handover.
