Why join Lives Lived Well?
At Lives Lived Well lived experience matters. Our Peer Workers bring connection, relatability and hope by supporting young people in ways that are different from, and complementary to, clinical care.
This role sits within a youth-centred, outreach-focused AOD service, working with young people up to 25 (primarily 12–18) who may be disengaged from traditional systems. The work is flexible, relational and community-based - meeting young people where they're at and supporting safer, healthier choices over time.
You'll be part of a cohesive multidisciplinary team based in Beenleigh that is social, supportive and highly collaborative. The team regularly shares ideas, debriefs together and values peer perspectives. You'll be supported by a calm, fair and genuinely caring leader who prioritises wellbeing, reflection and sustainable practice.
About the role
This is a part-time role (0.5 FTE) with flexibility around days and hours, worked within business hours.
As a Peer Worker, you'll:
* Provide non-clinical, peer-based support, drawing on lived experience with strong boundaries
* Spend time out in the community - supporting young people in places they already are including communities, schools, youth spaces and other informal hangouts
* Build trust with young people who may be reluctant to engage with services
* Work alongside counsellors in a co-therapy model, supporting engagement without clinical responsibility
* Support outreach, education and harm-reduction activities
* Help young people connect with services, community supports and positive pathways
* Bring the peer voice into conversations, advocacy and service improvement
This role suits someone who understands that progress can be slow, relationships matter most, and impact is built over time.
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to have a personal lived experience of substance dependence and or mental ill-health, service use and recovery.
You'll bring:
* Lived or living experience relevant to recovery, wellbeing or significant life challenges
* The ability to share your experience purposefully and safely, without overlooking others
* Strong empathy, self-awareness and boundary-setting skills
* Confidence engaging young people in informal and community-based settings
* Experience working with young people or in community contexts (paid or unpaid)
You don't need to be clinical - your lived experience, insight and authenticity are your strengths.
What you'll get
* Salary of $76,000 – $81,500 (pro-rata) plus Super and Salary Packaging
* Onsite parking with a company pool vehicle for work use
* Five extra paid wellbeing leave days per year (pro rata for part time)
* A genuinely inclusive organisation that values lived and living experience
* Ongoing supervision, peer support and development from experienced leaders
* Hybrid ways of working where possible
* Employee Assistance Program for you and your family (wellbeing, counselling & financial coaching)
Applications close on Friday 22nd May, however we will be interviewing throughout the process and may close applications early.
