About the opportunity
Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, Queensland, you’ll play a key role in delivering communications that support the Queensland Division’s advocacy priorities and member activity.
You will:
* write media releases, statements, briefing notes and talking points
* develop advocacy alerts, member updates and stakeholder communications
* create engaging digital content for social and LinkedIn
* identify media opportunities and support proactive and reactive communications activity
* help translate policy issues into accessible and persuasive messages
* contribute to events content and member engagement before, during and after events
* support issues management and reputational communications when needed
About you
You’re a strong communications professional with excellent judgement, a sharp eye for detail and the ability to work confidently across multiple priorities.
You’ll bring
* proven experience in media, communications, public affairs, policy or a related field
* exceptional writing and editing skills across a range of channels
* experience producing media releases, social content, member communications and advocacy material
* the ability to distil complex information into clear, engaging messages
* strong stakeholder management skills and a collaborative working style
* sound understanding of media, digital communications and storytelling
* a proactive, adaptable approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
What you'll need
* 3+ years’ experience in media, communications, public affairs, policy or a similar role
* a relevant degree in communications, journalism, public relations, public policy or similar
* willingness to work outside standard business hours from time to time
* ability to travel interstate occasionally
