A major bank is currently seeking an Azure Platform Engineer to join their team on a long-term contract. Initially 12 month contract and hybrid (2 days a week in office).
This role is pivotal in driving automation, continuous delivery, and observability across the Azure ecosystem.
Sydney or Melbourne based.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain Azure-native monitoring and observability solutions, ensuring full-stack visibility across infrastructure and services.
Build automation for incident prevention, remediation, and compliance enforcement using Azure DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and scripting languages.
Create operational dashboards and analytic views that present health, performance, compliance posture, and platform risk indicators.
Analyze observability and compliance gaps, drive remediations, and embed continuous improvement into platform processes.
Automate configuration management, setting provisioning, and patching processes to ensure continuous compliance and platform health.
Conduct performance tuning, cost optimization, and reliability engineering activities driven by telemetry and usage insights.
Support SRE-driven practices by maintaining error budgets, SLOs, and operational runbooks.
Contribute to platform automation standards, reusable modules, and system observability patterns.
Key Skills / Experience
Expert in Azure platform engineering, automation, or observability functions.
Deep understanding of Azure Monitor, LAW, Azure Policy, and ideally Defender for Cloud.
Expert Terraform experience.
Strong skills in Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting for automation and compliance workflows.
Experience designing and implementing dashboards (Workbooks, Splunk, Grafana, Application Insights) for operational and compliance insights.
Familiarity with governance tools and regulatory frameworks (CIS benchmarks, ISO, NIST).
Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer, or Azure Solutions Architect – desirable.
