Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Beekeeper to join our team. As a key member of our Apiary Team, you will play a vital role in the growth and success of our business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of shed management, including ensuring the efficiency of beekeeping operations. You will also oversee apiary activities, allocate duties to junior beekeepers, plan beekeeping schedules, and ensure adequate human resources are rostered to meet beekeeping requirements.

* Assist in managing hives during rounds and seasons as per the seasonal plan.
* Oversee apiary activities, including allocating duties to junior beekeepers, planning beekeeping schedules, and ensuring adequate human resources are rostered to meet beekeeping requirements.
* Work in the honey extraction facility to extract honey, including uncapping and extraction methods.


Required Skills and Qualifications

* Certificate III or higher qualification in beekeeping or a related field, plus at least 1 year of full-time experience, or equivalent relevant experience.
* Full Driver's License required; Heavy Vehicle (HC) license and Forklift license preferable.
* Good work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Physical fitness and no known allergies to bees or bee stings.
* Resilience and ability to work outdoors.


Benefits

Annual salary of $76,000 - $78,000 plus superannuation based on a 38-hour week.

This is an exciting and varied role that requires outdoor work in the elements, physical fitness, and extensive travel/time away from home during both honey and pollination periods.

* Maintain enduring relationships with existing landowners to retain preferred land sites.
* Ensure our beekeeping team treats landowners and their properties with the highest level of respect.
* Demonstrate leadership behaviours consistent with the vision, goals, values, and priorities of the business.
* Support and encourage junior beekeepers by guiding their learning.
* Be the champion and promoter of Workplace Health and Safety amongst the beekeeping team members.
* Proactively promote sustainability of resources such as energy, water, and packaging, and minimize waste to ensure compliance to standards.
