Technical Officer - Plant & Fleet (Technical) Mackay Regional Council $60.45/hr Super Contract: 18 May 2026 - 14 August 2026 Schedule: Monday to Friday | 7:00am - 3:30pm About the Role Mackay Regional Council is seeking a skilled Technical Officer - Plant and Fleet (Technical) to support the lifecycle management of Council's diverse fleet assets, including heavy and light vehicles, plant, and mechanical equipment. This role plays a key part in ensuring Council's fleet is safe, compliant, cost-effective, and fit-for-purpose through strong technical input, data-driven analysis, and collaboration with internal teams and suppliers. Key Responsibilities Support fleet procurement, asset acquisition, and disposal activities Conduct cost analysis and assist in developing technical specifications for new and replacement plant Evaluate plant and equipment to ensure operational suitability and value for money Provide technical advice on fleet operations, maintenance reliability, and whole-of-life asset management Assist with replacement planning and asset optimisation strategies Research and identify emerging fleet technologies and industry solutions Support fleet safety, compliance, and risk management in line with NHVR requirements Coordinate equipment trials, demonstrations, assessments, and operator training Contribute to maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives Work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support operational outcomes About You Strong understanding of fleet asset management and plant operations Experience in maintenance reliability and whole-of-life costing principles Ability to analyse data and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations Knowledge of procurement processes and technical specification development Familiarity with heavy vehicle regulations and safety compliance frameworks Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Highly organised with strong problem-solving and planning ability Why Apply?
