We are seeking a Senior Network & Security Engineer to join our team in a network-specialist Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) environment.
This field services role involves providing critical on-call support for a leading Mining and Resources client through our partner.
The successful candidate will be available 24/7 for one-week rotations, responding to urgent technical issues and attending client sites within a 4-hour window when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Deploy and maintain multi-site network topologies including core, distribution, and access layers.
* Configure and manage Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks including VLANs, routing, STP, OSPF, and BGP.
* Implement, document, and support FortiSwitches, HPE/Aruba switches, and Cisco Meraki switches.
* Manage and patch physical infrastructure including rack-mounted switches, firewalls, and patch panels.
* Lead physical rollout projects including HA firewall deployments and structured cabling reviews.
Edge/perimeter Responsibilities
* Deploy and manage Fortinet firewalls in HA, multi-VDOM, and Security Fabric setups.
* Configure advanced FortiOS policies including NAT, IPS, Web Filtering, SSL inspection, and VPNs.
* Maintain FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer for centralized configuration and threat analysis.
* Familiarity with agile methodologies and infrastructure architecture is a plus.
Desirable Cybersecurity and Compliance Attributes
* Support Essential 8 compliance including patching, application control, and admin rights management.
* Implement Microsoft 365 hardening including MFA, Conditional Access, and Defender for Endpoint.
* Collaborate with the Infrastructure and L2 teams to complete remediation tasks in line with internal security projects.
Requirements and Skills
* Minimum 3 years of experience in an MSP/MSSP or complex enterprise environment.
* Industry certifications such as Expert-level Fortinet (NSE 4+) or CCNP/CCIE.
* Strong experience with HPE switches, Cisco Meraki, or similar enterprise-grade switches.
* Familiarity with PRTG and Fortinet logging/alerting tools.
* Able to work independently on infrastructure or security projects with minimal supervision.
* Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or working visa required.
* Must pass police, background, and medical checks.
* Valid driver's licence and own vehicle.
