Overview
Peer Family Support Worker is focused on support, mutual understanding and psychoeducation on aspects of care that work and can support a loved during a time of crisis.
Part time (4 days per week, 30.4 hours) ongoing role in Mackay, Queensland. SCHADS Level 3 ($40.62 per hour + superannuation + salary packaging benefits).
Responsibilities
* Support carers/families who are on their journey to recovery following an attempted suicide.
* Link participants with other community support services and provide gentle psychoeducational tools and guidance.
* Provide carer peer connection in crisis; information and practical resources; peer support groups; proactive follow-up; service navigation and advocacy.
Qualifications & Eligibility
* Lived experience of supporting a loved one experiencing suicidal ideation, crisis and/or suicide attempts.
* Relevant qualifications or commensurate experience in a support role for people with mental health conditions.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with diverse backgrounds.
* Satisfactory Police Records Check.
* Blue Card – Working with Children Check.
* NDIS Worker Screening Check.
* NDIS Workers Orientation Module – Quality Safety and You – free online course.
* Right to work within Australia.
