CPC Engineering has over 50 years' experience in the mining sector and is 100% West Australian owned and operated. Our Great Southern division has an opportunity for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to join and lead Port Hedland branch.
About the Role
Reporting to the Pilbara Regional Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the leadership, performance, and profitability of our engineering and maintenance operations in Port Hedland. This is a hands‐on relationship building leadership role focused on delivering exceptional service, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance in a fast‐paced mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strong visible leadership and direction to multi‐discipline teams (mechanical, fabrication, electrical, plumbing, shutdowns, maintenance, and project delivery).
* Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of major maintenance shutdowns, turnarounds, and ongoing operational support contracts.
* Drive operational performance across safety, quality, cost, schedule, and client satisfaction KPIs.
* Manage responsibility for the Port Hedland operations, including cost control, budgeting, and commercial performance.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key mining clients and stakeholders.
* Ensure full compliance with all statutory, client, and company safety, environmental, and quality requirements (including ISO standards).
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and innovation.
* Mentor and develop superintendents, supervisors, and technical teams.
* Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies for FIFO and local teams.
* Manage risk, including commercial, safety, and operational risks.
About You
* Minimum 4–6 years' experience in operations management within the mining or heavy industrial sector, with strong exposure to the Pilbara iron ore industry.
* Demonstrated experience leading large multi‐trade teams (80+ personnel) on major mining sites.
* Proven P&L ownership and strong commercial acumen.
* Excellent safety leadership with a strong understanding of modern safety systems (e.g., ICAM, Life Saving Rules).
* Strong technical knowledge of mechanical maintenance, shutdown execution, and engineering services in a mining environment.
* Outstanding stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
* Advanced interpersonal and leadership capabilities with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, or Business (desired).
* Current WA \"C\" Class driver's licence and ability to pass pre‐employment medical and drug screens.
* Right to work in Australia.

* Mechanical or Maintenance trade background.
* Experience with leading high‐performing teams.
* Formal leadership or business administration qualifications.
