Purpose
As Head Chef, you are the leader in our world of culinary creations. Your guidance and expertise are instrumental in nurturing your kitchen team’s talents as they craft delectable dishes that linger in the memories of diners. You mentor staff, oversee food preparation, thoughtfully curate enticing menus, and maintain a smoothly functioning, secure kitchen operation to guarantee an enjoyable dining experience for every guest.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and update menus, including selecting ingredients, creating recipes, and ensuring variety and quality
- Oversee daily kitchen operations: staff scheduling, inventory management, and kitchen hygiene
- Supervise the cooking process, ensuring dishes meet the highest standards of taste, presentation, and portion size
- Manage the kitchen’s budget, control food costs, and minimise waste to maximize profitability
- Hire, train, and supervise kitchen staff – chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants – to ensure a smooth operation
- Collaborate with restaurant management, front‑of‑house staff, and suppliers to coordinate the dining experience and address any issues
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as Head or Senior Sous Chef with proven leadership and team‑management track record
- Proven menu‑development skills: innovative dishes, seasonal ingredients, accommodating dietary needs, top‑notch presentation
- Exceptional attention to detail and passion for the food you produce
- Strong organisational skills for preparation, planning, and cost control
- A natural team player who loves collaboration yet can work autonomously
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, coupled with positive energy and attitude
- Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required
