Description
The Department Head is a teacher from within a specific academic department who also takes on leadership responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities
* Align department curriculum with state standards and district goals.
* Lead curriculum development and review.
* Monitor instructional quality across the department.
* Instructional Support:
o Mentor and support teachers within the department.
o Promote best teaching practices and professional development.
o Facilitate collaboration among department staff.
* Administration & Coordination:
o Coordinate department meetings and professional learning communities.
* Serve as a link between teachers, school administrators, and district leaders.
* Communicate policies, goals, and initiatives to the department.
* Resource Management:
o Help manage department budgets, materials, and resources.
o Make recommendations for textbooks, technology, and supplies.
Qualifications
* Certified teacher in the state of Ohio with several years of experience.
* Master's degree or additional credentials in leadership or education is preferred.
* Prior experience as a Department Head is preferred.
