Registered Nurse - Chemotherapy in the Home

Epworth at Home is part of Epworth's Continuing Care and Support Services Division, which includes Hospital in the Home, Chemotherapy in the Home, and other community services.
We are offering opportunities for you to work on a permanent part-time basis as a CITH RN, thriving on seeing a wide variety of acute patients in the comfort of their own homes. The successful applicant will work independently, visiting patients at home to administer antineoplastic drugs from a defined list of treatments. Medications will be checked with another qualified nurse before leaving the hospital and at the point of care, requiring a strong foundation in antineoplastic drug handling and administration.
Chemotherapy in the Home (CITH) provides home-based cancer care for patients across oncology and haematology groups, especially those with difficulty transporting to hospital. The CITH Nurse works under the direction of the HITH Nurse Unit Manager and/or Associate Nurse Unit Manager and the Medical Team, collaborating with VMO's (oncologists and haematologists), oncology pharmacists, and Day Medical Unit Staff to ensure effective, timely treatment.
Chemotherapy in the Home and Hospital in the Home are managed by the Nurse Unit Manager, with patient cohorts managed accordingly. Upskilling is provided as needed to manage patients in both cohorts.
The unit operates 24/7 with an on-call service. A car, phone, and laptop are provided on workdays.
To be successful in the CITH role, you will have:
* Current nursing registration with AHPRA
* A valid Full Australian Driver's License (*passing a driving assessment is required)
* Understanding of community-based services
* Demonstrated autonomous practice
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and clinical assessment skills
* Ability to identify and escalate clinical deterioration
* Commitment to continued education
Essential skills include:
* Minimum 3 years of chemotherapy in the home, DMU, Oncology, or Haematology ward experience
* Completion of Anti-Cancer Drug Administration Course (ADAC) or equivalent
* Knowledge of cancer treatment, follow-up, escalation, and management
* Experience with PICC and CVAD management, intravenous cannulation, Negative Pressure Therapy, TPN, Enteral Nutrition, Stoma Care, Drain Tube Management, and complex wound care

The full-time annual salary for a Domiciliary Nurse is approximately AUD $102,278 plus superannuation and entitlements, prorated for part-time roles.
