Mechanical Engineer (High Voltage Power Services)

Remuneration/Benefits: $83,000 – $135,000 per annum + Superannuation + Premium Loading for on‐site works (commensurate with experience, skills and qualifications).
Sigma Power Services is a leading provider of high‐voltage testing, commissioning, maintenance, and asset management services across the mining, oil & gas, and renewable energy sectors. As part of the Tasmea Group, we deliver specialised engineering solutions to major clients across Australia. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support our expanding portfolio of high‐voltage projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Support transformer maintenance activities including oil filtration, regeneration, and mechanical inspections
* Assist with installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HV equipment (transformers, switchgear, RMUs)
* Conduct condition assessments and provide technical recommendations for asset reliability and life extension
* Prepare technical reports, inspection documentation, and engineering assessments
* Coordinate with electrical engineers and field technicians to deliver integrated project outcomes
* Assist in developing maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives
* Ensure compliance with safety standards, procedures, and client requirements
Key Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar
* Minimum 1 year of relevant experience (HV industry, power, mining, or heavy industry preferred)
* Exposure to transformer systems, oil‐filled equipment, or rotating/static plant is advantageous
* Strong understanding of maintenance practices and asset management principles
Desirable
* Experience with transformer oil processing, cooling systems, or pressure systems
* Exposure to commissioning or shutdown environments
