The Role: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join the team at The Sturt Club. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing food preparation and cooking activities, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation, and supporting the smooth day‐to‐day operation of the kitchen. This role suits a team‐oriented hospitality professional who thrives in a fast‐paced environment, takes pride in consistency and food quality, and is committed to maintaining excellent kitchen and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook meals in accordance with menu and quality standards.
* Ensure consistency in taste, quality, portioning, and presentation of dishes.
* Examine and prepare ingredients to ensure freshness and quality.
* Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with food safety standards.
* Store food in temperature‐controlled facilities and follow proper food handling procedures.
* Assist with stock control, food preparation, and waste minimisation.
* Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements where required.
* Collaborate with kitchen staff to support efficient kitchen operations.
* May assist in training junior kitchen staff.
About You
* Minimum 1–2 years' experience as a Cook (Modern Australian cuisine experience highly regarded such as pub and club‐style dining).
* Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (Cert III or above).
* Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene standards.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‐paced environment.
* A passion for creativity and attention to detail.
* Team player with excellent communication skills.
