About The Role
As a Palliative Care Volunteer, you'll be a vital part of our team, bringing warmth, compassion, and human connection to patients receiving palliative care. Your presence will provide comfort during a challenging time and offer invaluable support to both patients and their loved ones.
Key Duties
* Provide companionship through conversation, reading aloud, or simply sitting quietly with patients
* Offer practical support such as assisting with correspondence, driving to appointments or helping with small tasks like making a photo album
* Provide respite for family members and carers, giving them time to rest or attend to other needs
* Engage patients in activities they enjoy, such as music, gentle games, or reminiscing
* Support families by offering a listening ear and emotional presence
* Assist with our annual A Time To Remember memorial event on the first Monday in December
Skills and Experience Needed
* A compassionate, non-judgmental nature and ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
* Good listening skills and emotional maturity to be present with people facing end of life
* Reliability, punctuality, and respect for confidentiality
* Ability to work within professional boundaries and follow care guidelines
* No prior experience necessary – full training and ongoing support provided
