JOB DESCRIPTION
WSP is seeking a Geologist, Engineering Geologist, or Geotechnical Engineer with at least 2 years of core logging experience to join our Brisbane‐based Geotechnical & Tunnels team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the field programs for large infrastructure jobs around Brisbane. Your initial assignment will involve rig supervision for a project northwest of Brisbane, working a 10‐on‐4‐off roster and being housed at a fully serviced campsite. You will collaborate closely with WSP team members, contractors and client delivery teams, adding value to the successful delivery of the project. Working under a Principal‐level engineering geologist, you will also have the chance to expand your technical skills.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
* Plan and deliver geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, logging and in‐situ testing
* Manage contractors and implement health and safety controls
* Liaise with the WSP project team, contractors and the client to ensure project delivery
* Prepare daily field records and borehole logs
* Analyse geotechnical and geological data to inform design and construction outcomes
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure projects
* Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders
ABOUT YOU
* Degree qualified in Geology, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering
* 2–7 years' experience in geology or geotechnical field work
* Rock core logging experience required
* Interested in site work, core logging, and working in remote conditions
* Strong grounding in soil and rock mechanics and site investigation practices
* Confident communicator with developing technical writing skills
* Some 4WD experience preferred; current Australian driver's licence required
