About Us
An exciting opportunity has opened up with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Centralised Intake team for an experienced mental health clinician who would like to engage with young people, carers, and service providers via telephone/virtual care to ensure young people access the right service at the right time. CAMHS is a specialist mental health service that assesses and treats young people 0 – 17 years of age and their families/carers who are living in the HNE Local Health District (LHD). CAMHS also has a key relationship with YAMHS Wiyiliin ta Aboriginal Mental Health Service. Young people referred to the service have complex and severe mental health problems that significantly impact on most aspects of their functioning and development. The location of this position is negotiable.
About the Role
As a CAMHS Centralised Intake (CCI) clinician, you will utilise telephone contact/virtual care to provide comprehensive assessment, intake, and service linkage for young people/carers within HNELHD. The model of care is trauma-informed, recovery oriented and family-centred. You will receive direct line management and guidance from the CAMHS CCI, Special Programs & Partnerships Manager and work within an experienced multi-disciplinary team. You will benefit from regular clinical supervision and access to continuous training and educational programs.
About You
This role requires highly developed verbal and written communication, negotiation, and critical thinking skills. You will have confidence in clinical decision making and demonstrated experience in bio-psycho-social-cultural assessment and mental health risk assessment. Sound clinical judgement and stakeholder consultation are key components of the role. The successful applicant will have the ability to engage and connect with young people/carers to effectively support people experiencing emotional vulnerability.
Requirements
* Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, Counsellor (Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health, Djirruwang Program) which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association and (where relevant) general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* For appointment at Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2: completed relevant post-registration qualification/s in Mental Health and at least 3 years' clinical experience in Mental Health.
