Secure Care Nurse Role
The Secure Extended Care Unit in Ballarat is a recovery-focused care centre that provides 24/7 mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2, you will deliver evidence-based care within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
* Deliver holistic, evidence-based nursing care to consumers and carers within an inpatient mental health setting
* Complete biopsychosocial and risk assessments and develop treatment plans aligned with recovery goals
* Support therapeutic programs, including group and individual psychosocial interventions
* Maintain accurate documentation, communication and clinical handover in line with policy
* Contribute to a safe, therapeutic environment and support reduction of restrictive practices
* Participate in supervision, student support, quality improvement and portfolio responsibilities
* Work collaboratively within the SECU multidisciplinary team across rotating shifts
Requirements:
* Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration; postgraduate mental health qualification desirable
* Strong knowledge of recovery-oriented practice, less restrictive practice and relevant legislation
* Experience in inpatient mental health or bed-based settings
* Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
* Organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities
