We're looking for an experienced Front End Tech Lead to lead the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-scale digital platforms. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep front-end engineering expertise with strong leadership capabilities and experience working with CMS and digital experience platforms. Experience with commerce platforms and composable architecture is highly desirable.
You'll remain hands‐on while guiding technical direction, mentoring developers, and partnering with clients to deliver scalable, performant, and future‐ready solutions.
Responsibilities
* Lead front‐end architecture, design, and delivery across complex digital and customer experience platforms.
* Define scalable front‐end solutions that integrate with CMS, commerce, search, personalisation, and backend services.
* Provide technical leadership to development teams, establishing best practices, standards, and delivery approaches.
* Remain hands‐on throughout delivery, contributing to architecture, development, code reviews, and technical problem‐solving.
* Design and implement modern front‐end applications using technologies such as React, Next.js, TypeScript, and related frameworks.
* Collaborate with clients, product owners, designers, and delivery teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
* Define rendering strategies including SSR, SSG, ISR, and edge‐based approaches where appropriate.
* Drive front‐end performance, accessibility, SEO, security, and scalability outcomes.
* Lead integration design across APIs, middleware, CMS, commerce, and supporting platform services.
* Support solution workshops, technical discovery sessions, estimations, and pre‐sales activities.
* Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth of Expertech's front‐end capability and engineering standards.
* Champion modern engineering practices, including AI‐assisted development, automation, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a Front End Tech Lead, Lead Developer, Senior Front End Engineer, or similar technical leadership role.
* Strong expertise in modern JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js and contemporary front‐end development practices.
* Experience designing and delivering enterprise‐scale web applications and digital platforms.
* Strong experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS) and digital experience platforms.
* Deep understanding of component‐based architecture, design systems, and reusable front‐end patterns.
* Experience integrating front‐end applications with APIs, backend services, and third‐party platforms.
* Strong understanding of web performance optimisation, Core Web Vitals, accessibility (WCAG), and SEO best practices.
* Experience leading development teams, mentoring engineers, and conducting code reviews.
* Strong knowledge of front‐end security principles and secure integration practices.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non‐technical stakeholders.
* Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Experience with commerce platforms such as commercetools, Shopify, Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, or similar.
* Experience with headless and enterprise CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sitecore, Optimizely, Adobe Experience Manager, Storyblok, or Sanity.
* Experience working within composable architecture environments.
* Knowledge of micro frontends and modular front‐end architecture patterns.
* Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
* Experience working within consulting, digital agency, or client‐facing delivery environments.
* Exposure to AI‐assisted software development tools and engineering workflows.
