* Help prepare the track for race meetings, trials and morning track work.
* Carry out practical maintenance around the racecourse, grounds, workshop and stable areas.
* Assist with machinery checks, basic repairs and keeping equipment in good working order.
* Keep workshop areas clean, tidy and safe.
* Monitor materials and supplies, including fuel, oils, tines and other consumables.
* Support safe work practices and take part in toolbox talks and WHS discussions.
* Assist casual track staff when required.
* Pitch in across the venue during race days, events and the Darwin Cup Carnival period.
About you
You will suit this role if you:
* Enjoy practical, physical work.
* Like being outdoors and working as part of a small team.

* Take pride in doing a job properly.
* Have a good eye for detail.
* Are reliable, self‐motivated and willing to get stuck in.
* Understand the importance of safety.
* Can stay calm and focused when things get busy.
* Are flexible with hours during the racing season.
Experience we are looking for
Ideally, you will have:
* Experience operating tractors and machinery.
* Practical experience in grounds maintenance, turf, farming, racing, local government, facilities or a similar outdoor role.
* Welding or metal fabrication experience.
* Good mechanical knowledge or hands‐on equipment maintenance experience.
* A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
* A current driver's licence.
Highly regarded, but not essential
The following would be an advantage:
* Mechanical qualification.
* Forklift ticket.
* HR licence.
* Experience in racing, turf, farming or large outdoor site maintenance.
Availability
This is a physical outdoor role and flexibility is important. Weekend work, race days and event work may be required. Availability during the peak racing season from June to August is important, including the Darwin Cup Carnival period.
Why join us?
This is a chance to work in a role that is active, practical and different from the everyday. You will be part of the team that gets the racecourse ready, keeps the track maintained and helps deliver one of Darwin's biggest sporting and social events.
If you enjoy machinery, outdoor work and being part of a hardworking team, we would like to hear from you.
