Role Overview
Thiess currently has an opportunity for a Mining Estimator to join the Estimating team in our Australia New Work team. This role is based at the Thiess Office in West Perth and reports to the Principal Estimator.
As our next Mining Estimator, you will act as a conduit between existing and new customers, providing timely, accurate and innovative estimates that deliver the blueprint for operational and financial success.
Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively with Regional General Managers and Project Development Managers to ensure the estimating strategy aligns with client requirements.
* Co‐operate with Mine Planning Engineers to optimise the mine plan for the recommended installed capacity.
* Support Asset Estimators in valuing and optimising fleet selection requirements and cost inputs.
* Analyse actual fixed and variable costs for use in tender pricing and apply market benchmarks to guide pricing strategies.
* Analyse site production performance to determine parameters for use within budgets and tenders.
* Support the preparation and submission of tenders to clients and coordinate the effective handover of awarded tenders to operations.
* Develop accurate, practical tenders with due consideration to the scope of works.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or Surveying.
* Previous experience working in technical services within large‐scale open‐cut mining operations.
* High‐level proficiency in computer‐based estimating systems.
* Strong commercial acumen with prior experience in mining services contracts.
* Knowledge of mine‐operation regulatory and legislative requirements.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
