Escape Portal is seeking a passionate and energetic Esports Assistant to join our growing team in Cannington, WA. This is a casual position offering flexible working arrangements to suit your schedule. As an Esports Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our esports facility and events, helping to create an engaging and competitive environment for our gaming community. This position is crucial in ensuring our esports offerings run smoothly whilst maintaining the high standards our customers expect.
Responsibilities
* Delivering exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming environment for gamers, families, and visitors.
* Assisting customers with account creation, memberships, game setup, and general enquiries.
* Operating POS systems, handling cash and EFTPOS transactions accurately, and balancing tills when required.
* Preparing and serving food and beverages while following food safety and hygiene standards.
* Maintaining stock levels, restocking products, and notifying management of low inventory.
* Assisting with the setup, management, and breakdown of esports tournaments, gaming events, birthday parties, and community activities.
* Providing basic technical support and troubleshooting for gaming PCs, consoles, peripherals, and internet connectivity issues.
* Monitoring gameplay during competitions to ensure fair play and compliance with event rules.
* Supporting livestreams, broadcasts, and community engagement initiatives across digital platforms.
* Maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of gaming stations, customer areas, restrooms, and common spaces.
* Cleaning and sanitising gaming equipment including keyboards, mice, headsets, controllers, desks, and gaming areas.
* Conducting routine venue inspections and reporting technical issues, damaged equipment, hazards, or maintenance concerns.
* Taking bookings, managing customer reservations, and assisting with event coordination.
* Assisting with venue opening and closing procedures.
* Promoting a safe, inclusive, and family-friendly gaming environment.
* Working collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth day-to-day venue operations.
* Contributing ideas to improve customer experience, events, and community engagement.
Qualifications
* Passion for gaming, esports, and technology.
* Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable attitude.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence interacting with customers of all ages.
* Ability to multitask in a fast-paced gaming and entertainment environment.
* Basic knowledge of PC hardware, gaming peripherals, networking, and troubleshooting.
* Reliability, punctuality, and a professional work ethic.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and late-night shifts.
* Ability to maintain cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the venue.
* Experience in retail, hospitality, customer service, gaming venues, or events is highly regarded but not essential.
* Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
