We currently have three vacancies and are specifically seeking individuals with leadership experience and professional expertise to lead one of the following key portfolios:Accounting, Finance and Financial GovernanceFundraising, Development and SponsorshipMarketing, Communications, Social Media and Stakeholder EngagementThis is a unique opportunity to contribute your skills and experience to one of Western Australia’s most vibrant and visible community organisations. Board Members serve an initial two-year term, with formal election at the next AGM required. Directors are expected to attend monthly Board meetings, General Meetings (including the AGM), and actively participate in Board subcommittees and Pride WA events, particularly PrideFEST, the Pride Parade, and advocacy initiatives.About Pride WAPride WA’s mission, vision, and principal purpose are to encourage and promote community, culture and the arts in Western Australia by celebrating the diversity, unique talents, and identities of our sexual and gender-diverse community. We promote our mission through events, advocacy, and outreach.Promote self-esteem, health, and representation within the LGBTQIA+ community in WA.Celebrate diversity and cultural expression.Raise awareness and drive meaningful change for people of diverse sexuality and gender.Key responsibilities (all roles)Provide strategic direction and contribute to effective governance of Pride WA.Participate in monthly Board meetings and strategic planning workshops.Actively support Pride WA events and stakeholder engagement initiatives.Collaborate with the CEO and fellow Board members to oversee operational performance and risk management.Champion Pride WA’s mission and values in the community.Attend and contribute to General Meetings of the Members, including the AGM.Portfolio-specific responsibilities1. Accounting, Finance and Financial GovernanceOversee financial governance and compliance with relevant legislation and standards.Prepare, review and present financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to the Board.Work closely with the CEO, finance team and auditors to ensure financial transparency and accountability.Provide guidance on financial systems, policies, and risk management.CA or CPA qualification or equivalent highly desirable.2. Fundraising, Development and SponsorshipLead the development of Pride WA’s fundraising and donor engagement strategies.Identify and secure new revenue streams, including philanthropic funding, sponsorships, legacies and partnerships.Support grant writing and acquittal processes.Together with the CEO, build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential sponsors, donors and stakeholders.3. Marketing, Communications, Social Media and Stakeholder EngagementOversee the organisation’s public communications strategy, brand identity, and digital presence.Provide guidance on media engagement, campaigns, and community messaging.Support the promotion of Pride WA events, advocacy efforts and public profile.Strengthen stakeholder and community relationships across WA.General requirements (all roles)Proven leadership experience and commitment to community service.Demonstrated understanding of the LGBTIQA+ community in WA.A collaborative and proactive approach with strong communication and teamwork skills.Ability to contribute time and expertise to a working Board environment.Based in Western Australia.Member of Pride WA (or willing/eligible to become a member).Available to support the delivery of PrideFEST during November.Current (or willing to obtain) National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check.Desired skills and experienceIn addition to the portfolio-specific experience, we value candidates with:Formal governance training (e.g. AICD, Governance Institute of Australia, or Community Directors).Prior experience on Boards, committees, or governance roles (not essential).Knowledge of not-for-profit or community organisation environments.Experience working with volunteers and diverse stakeholder groups.Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusionPride WA is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and actively encourages applications from people of underrepresented groups, including:LGBTQIA+ communities.Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Pacific Islander peoples.People of Colour.Women, non-binary and gender-diverse people.People living with disabilities.We understand that not every candidate will meet every requirement.
