Job Summary
In this role, you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for the project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries, and solve complex technical issues to ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards. This position is designated as part‐time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in‐person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
Major Responsibilities
* Leads or administers work of designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2‐D and 3‐D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings.
* Develops designs for complete and complex Mechanical engineering systems and components used in mining and materials handling facilities with minimum supervision.
* Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved Mechanical design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.
* Participates in constructability and model reviews.
* Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design team efforts and processes.
* Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.
* Reviews design scope changes, as required, for project management.
* Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use.
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8‐10 years of relevant experience or years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Bulk materials handling experience essential.
* Experience in the design of screening, crushing plants, conveyors and transfer stations is essential.
* Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
* Experience with multi‐discipline interface management and global 3‐D model oversight.
* Proven experience in engineering design tools such as Autodesk Inventor, Bentley MicroStation and Navisworks.
* Experience with Smart3D application preferred.
* Experience with modelling of common mechanical equipment on mining and metals projects, including interfaces of equipment with other disciplines.
* Expertise in reading, interpreting and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
* Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design responsibilities.
* Well‐developed skills in teamwork, communication, problem solving and client engagement.
