**The Opportunity**:
Partnered with our host **Arnott's Biscuits**, we are looking for a Fitting Apprentice who is looking to get their hands on the tools, while completing a **MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Fitting**.
This position is for a 1st year apprentice, but if you are a 2nd or 3rd year apprentice looking to change host company due to relocation, or other valid reason, this position is also available to you.
This position is full-time and is based at the Arnott's site in** Virginia, Brisbane**.
**Job Details**:
Arnott's are the largest producer of biscuits in Australia and have been creating delicious moments for 150 years. Their world-famous biscuit ranges include Tim Tams, Arnott's Biscuits Shapes Jatz and Tiny Teddy.
If you have a genuine passion for mechanical work, are eager to learn and develop new skills, completing an apprenticeship with host Arnott's Biscuits would be a great opportunity. This **four-year apprenticeship **will give you the opportunity to work with experienced tradespeople who enjoy sharing their knowledge with eager to learn apprentices.
This is a full-time role 40 hours per week over the 4-year apprenticeship. The work hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday to Fridays.
Your duties will include, but is not limited to:
- The assembly and installation of new components
- Repair and maintenance on a variety of machinery on site
- Machining using lathes and milling machines
- Welding and fabrication work

**About You**:
You have excellent communication skills and are a real team player. You are someone with the ability to patiently interact with production staff members with less mechanical knowledge and understanding than you.
If you're a 1st year apprentice, you will ideally have completed a Certificate 2 in Engineering.
You will be mechanically minded, be able to follow instructions, and be eager to gain all fitter skills and experience you can.
You must be able and willing to spend a day at Arnott's within the mechanical team. This is an excellent chance to gain an understanding of what the work environment and role is like. This day, spent on site at Virginia Brisbane, is a compulsory part of the selection process.
In addition to these qualities, you will:
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills are essential
- Have the desire to learn and commitment to this 4-year apprenticeship
- Excellent communication skills and a team player outlook
- Reliable and punctual and a positive attitude
- Good safety awareness
- Have the ability to pass a Medical, Drug and Alcohol, and Police Check paid for by MIGAS
