Regional Leadership Opportunity


About the Role

As a Regional Practice Lead, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal services and advocacy to clients across the Bendigo region.

The role involves providing advice, casework, and advocacy in Family Law, Child Protection, and Family Violence matters. You will also be required to maintain a substantial caseload and manage applications for legal assistance, including VLA grants.

You will play a key role in supervising, mentoring, and supporting practice team members, as well as planning and delivering community legal education and professional development in the region.

In addition, you will develop collaborative relationships with service providers, VLA, and other community legal centres, and stay current with legal developments, issues, and trends affecting clients.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a specialist legal and support service dedicated to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.


Key Responsibilities

* Providing High-Quality Legal Services: Deliver advice, casework, and advocacy in Family Law, Child Protection, and Family Violence matters.
* Maintaining Caseload and Managing Applications: Manage a substantial caseload and applications for legal assistance, including VLA grants.
* Supervising and Mentoring Team Members: Supervise, mentor, and support practice team members.
* Delivering Community Legal Education: Plan and deliver community legal education and professional development in the region.
* Developing Collaborative Relationships: Develop collaborative relationships with service providers, VLA, and other community legal centres.


About You

* Admission and Practising Certificate: Admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in Victoria and the High Court of Australia with an unrestricted practising certificate.
* Experience and Skills: Minimum 4+ years of practical experience in Family Law, Family Violence, Intervention Orders, and Child Protection matters. Demonstrated ability to act as an advocate, deliver casework, negotiate disputes, and provide outreach services.
* Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Experience managing, supervising, and developing legal and support staff. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and multidisciplinary colleagues.
