The Opportunity

Join UniSC's Physiotherapy Discipline and play a key role in shaping the next generation of physiotherapists through innovative teaching, strong industry engagement, and a commitment to improving health outcomes in rural and regional communities. As Lecturer in Physiotherapy (Indigenous and Rural Health), you will deliver high‐quality teaching across undergraduate health programs, contribute to curriculum design and continuous improvement, and support student supervision to develop culturally responsive, practice‐ready graduates.

Working closely with the Head of Discipline and the Physiotherapy Clinical Coordinator, you will help strengthen clinical and community partnerships that enhance student learning and expand work‐integrated learning opportunities across diverse healthcare settings. You will also contribute to the School's broader teaching and research agenda, ensuring graduates are well prepared to deliver inclusive, person‐centred care in regional, rural, and community health environments.

You will:
* Deliver high‐quality, inclusive teaching across undergraduate physiotherapy programs, creating engaging learning environments that support student success;
* Contribute to curriculum design, course coordination and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on Indigenous and rural health contexts;
* Supervise and mentor honours and higher degree by research students in collaboration with industry and community partners;
* Develop and progress a focused research agenda aligned to contemporary health priorities, contributing to publications, grants and research teams;
* Build and sustain meaningful clinical, industry and community partnerships that enhance work‐integrated learning and graduate readiness;
* Actively participate in School and University service, contributing to a positive, culturally capable and collegial academic environment.
About you:

As an experienced academic and educator, you are committed to advancing physiotherapy education and practice with a focus on Indigenous and rural health contexts. You bring contemporary clinical expertise and sector knowledge to your teaching, research, and professional engagement, fostering inclusive, culturally responsive, and engaging learning environments that support student success and the development of evidence‐based practice. A confident communicator and collaborative team member, you work effectively with colleagues, students, and clinical partners to strengthen curriculum design, enhance work‐integrated learning opportunities, and build meaningful community and industry partnerships, contributing to the development of graduates prepared to meet contemporary health priorities and deliver high‐quality, person‐centred care across diverse regional, rural, and community settings.

You will possess:
* Unrestricted current registration to practice physiotherapy in Australia;
* A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a physiotherapist in regional, rural or remote areas and/or working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (or part time equivalent);
* Experience and capability in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, education, community engagement and culturally responsive practice;
* Effectiveness as a teacher, which is evidenced by:
o student feedback on teaching using valid instrument/s, peer review and/or student outcomes, and
o the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching.
* Completion or near‐completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
* Evidence of research experience, including for example, refereed publications; participation in research teams; co‐supervision of candidates for honours and higher degrees by research;
* Evidence of participation in professional development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic and clinician;
* Membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice; and
* Strong personal qualities and collegial approaches that contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and students.
Desirable
* Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is highly regarded, but not mandatory.
* Postgraduate training or coursework qualification relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
* Experience performing academic functions (e.g. course coordination, assessment moderation) at a university.
* Experience working inter‐professionally, using telehealth, and providing rural and remote health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
* Experience as a clinical educator/supervisor in practice within physiotherapy, including with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and/or via telehealth, and in rural and remote practice.
