Lead GHD Design as our Design Practice Leader — grow our client and external profile, steer our design strategy, strengthen market partnerships, and bring the presence and energy to elevate our capability across Australia.
This role can be based in any of our GHD Design Metro studios.
GHD Design is thriving and evolving — and we're looking for a Design Practice Leader who can amplify what's working, unlock new opportunities, and bring a fresh wave of market energy into a strong, well-established studio. This isn't about fixing problems; it's about accelerating growth, sharpening identity, and expanding influence.
You'll be a leader in a multidisciplinary team of 300+ architects, interior designers, landscape architects and urban designers, connected to the global GHD network of 12,000 engineers, planners and sustainability experts. It's a platform with reach, credibility and momentum — now ready for a leader with the market connectivity and presence to take it further.
Your impact will centre on growth and relationships: strengthening our national design profile, building deep partnerships, opening new market pathways, and positioning our studios for the next decade of opportunity. You'll unite teams around a clear design ambition, nurture talent, elevate storytelling, and leverage GHD's integrated capability to win the projects that genuinely shape cities and communities.

About the Role
This high-profile position places you at the forefront of our Property and Buildings (P&B) market, where you will be the external face of GHD Design.
Reporting to the Australian Market Leader for Property and Buildings, you will champion strategic growth that aligns with GHD's global and APAC vision while leveraging the unique strengths of our local markets and leading a talented team of design leaders, business group heads, and senior professionals.
As a key influencer in the industry, you will:
* Spearhead business development and client engagement across the P&B sector including identifying major project opportunities and the conversion of key pursuits.
* Build and nurture a powerful network of internal experts and strategic external partners.
* Drive collaboration with the P&B teams across the APAC Region, building strong bonds with respective Market Leaders
* Ensure GHD remains a market and technical leader in the design of the built environment.
You are a dynamic leader with:
* A proven track record in agile leadership and business growth.
* Deep industry relationships and a passion for design excellence.
* Extensive consulting and work-winning experience in the built environment.
You have the experience and skills required:
* Registered Architect
* Recognised nationally and/or internationally as a professional leader providing distinctive competence in large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects
* Market facing and with an established network with engagement of clients across a range of sub-sectors
* Collaborative and adaptable, empowering high performance teams
