Reporting to: Deputy Head of Facilities Services (Cleaning)
Main purpose of the role: To maintain a high standard of cleanliness across all assigned areas, helping to provide a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
General Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist with keeping designated areas clean, including hallways, floors, toilets, showers, and classrooms.
* Use cleaning equipment and materials to carry out duties safely, including diluting and using cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH regulations.
* Operate cleaning machinery in accordance with instructions and within Health and Safety guidelines, keeping such machinery clean and safe, and reporting faults.
* Carry out emergency cleaning as required, for example following accidents or sickness.
* Report defects such as faulty plugs or fuses to the supervisor.
* Take appropriate Health and Safety precautions, ensuring the personal safety of all staff, pupils and visitors.
* Respond to any other reasonable management request.

* Physical fitness, ability to bend, stretch, lean, reach and carry heavy, awkward items.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Punctual, reliable and trustworthy.
* Good time‐management skills.
* Ability to work both alone and in a team.
* Polite, friendly and helpful attitude.
* Confidence and courtesy in speaking to parents, pupils and staff at all levels.
* Awareness of health and safety procedures.
* Ability to read and understand written instructions.
* Work may be physically demanding, involving lifting and possibly working at heights using ladders.
* In‐house cleaning training will be provided to NVQ Level 2 standards.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 4:00pm to 7:00pm (15 hours per week).
Holidays
23 days, plus bank holidays, increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.
