The opportunity The primary focus of the Occupational Hygiene and Hazardous Materials team is to protect workers' health and provide guidance to clients in meeting their health, safety, and legislative requirements regarding the workplace, and occupational exposure.

As a Principal Consultant your focus will be on developing/managing client relationships and providing technical expertise. As part of the management team you will be expected to be involved in strategic planning and mentoring, with the possibility of people management responsibilities.

Department of Transport and Planning

Department of Defence

EPA Victoria

Westfield Shopping Centres

Australia Post

Westpac Banking Corporation

AMPOL

CSIRO

What you’ll do Working within an energetic team environment to maintain a high standard of client delivery, technical quality, thriving team culture, and high performance. WSP are in need of someone to join the leadership team in Victoria and assist in building the teams pipeline and capability. Responsibilities include:

Focus on business development, project delivery and client relationship management

As part of the leadership team assist with technical development and strategy for growth

Nurture client relationships to expand regional business opportunities

Manage occupational health risk assessments for hazards including but not limited to silica, noise, chemical exposures, vibration, lead, asbestos, biological hazards, and indoor air quality

Manage hazardous materials assessment projects including Division 5 and 6

Designing effective strategies for hazard remediation and prevention management

Assess health risks and provide expert advice with support from senior technical specialists and Certified Occupational Hygienists (COH)

Collaborate with cross-disciplinary working in acoustics, contaminated land, engineering and fire safety

Produce and review technical reports to a high standard, including technical peer review of reports

Strong professional development, with opportunity to be mentored by Certified Occupational Hygienists and senior executives.

About you You are likely to have 10+ years of experience in the assessment and remediation of hazardous material and/or measuring and assessing workplace hazards including chemical, physical, ergonomic, and biological hazards.

You will ideally bring the following:

Previous consultancy experience is required

Business development experience will be highly regarded including development of winning proposals and building ongoing client relationships

Good understanding of project life cycle whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery

Confidence to communicate hazards and risks with clients, from the boardroom to the field

Experience in analysing complex results and datasets, and writing technical reports

Strong knowledge of work health and safety regulations, or health risk assessment

High attention to detail and responsive to clients’ needs

Australian Driver's License

You're likely to have tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Health or Environmental Science
