About Our School

Sophia College is a Catholic secondary school located in the Lockyer Valley, approximately 80 km west of Brisbane. The college opened in January 2021 and continues to grow, enrolling a new cohort of students each year. It is enriched by a Franciscan spirituality and a strong focus on integral ecology.

Summary

Sophia College – Plainland is seeking passionate and dedicated secondary teachers across all specialty areas (including English, Humanities, Mathematics, HPE & RE). This is an exciting opportunity for educators who love literature, language and empowering young people to find their voice.

* Location: Sophia College – Plainland (S)
* Start date: Commencing ASAP
* Work hours: 30.00 Hours Full‐time, Part‐time opportunities available
* Salary: $86,601 – $124,725 per annum + super (commensurate with experience)
* Status: Full‐time Continuing, Part‐time and Contract opportunities available

About the Opportunity

* Create a nurturing and learner‐centred environment that is supportive, cooperative and aligned with relevant curriculum policies, documents and practices.
* Collaboratively develop and implement quality curriculum programmes and appropriate pedagogy, evaluate their effectiveness, assess and report student progress and learning outcomes, and report these to students, parents and the community.
* Work collaboratively with the leadership team, teachers and other staff members in contributing to the professional life of the school and fostering a positive school culture.
* Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes.
* Establish positive relationships in the pastoral care of students and support their spiritual and moral development.
* Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.

About You

To be successful you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience, including:

* A learner‐focused classroom aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
* Expertise in designing and delivering effective curriculum programmes in line with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
* Commitment to engage with colleagues, students and parents/carers to enrich learning experiences and achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
* A passion to support students' spiritual and moral development.
* Ability to teach Senior English is considered an advantage.

Eligibility and Safeguarding Requirements

* Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
* Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
