Nyamba Buru Yawuru (NBY) means 'This is the place of Yawuru'. NBY is the operational company of the Yawuru Native Title Holders Aboriginal Corporation. NBY manages the day to day business of Yawuru and is engaged in a diverse range of projects which help to provide social, cultural, environmental and financial sustainability for the future of Yawuru people.
JOB SUMMARY
The Participant Success Mentor plays a central role in supporting individuals participating in the Warrmijala Murrgurlayi (Rise Up to Work) Sustainable Employment Program. The core purpose of the role is to walk alongside participants to strengthen their wellbeing, confidence, capability and readiness for work, training or further education.
The role applies the Mabu Liyan Framework to mentoring practice, supporting participants to build strong foundations across social, emotional, cultural and practical domains, and to navigate barriers that impact sustainable employment outcomes.
Aboriginality is an essential requirement for this position under Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).
This is a Full‐Time / 2‐Year Fixed‐Term position.
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
* Demonstrated ability to support disengaged or 'at risk' individuals.
* Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
* A genuine commitment to mentoring and supporting participant success.
* Sound administration skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA
* Knowledge of the barriers experienced by Yawuru people and the broader Aboriginal community.
* Established networks within community services, employment, training or government sectors.
