Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join our team. In this role, you will be hands‐on on the tools while leading and guiding our carpentry team to ensure daily and weekly tasks are completed efficiently. You will work closely with our Building Supervisor and Project Manager to coordinate schedules, materials, and workflow across projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Be hands‐on coordinating daily tasks, maintaining productivity, and supervising Apprentices and Carpenters on site.
* Collaborate with the Building Supervisor to schedule jobs and manage materials.
* Manage site materials efficiently, ensuring unused materials are credited back or allocated to upcoming projects where suitable.
* Liaise between the Project Manager and Building Supervisor to maintain clear communication and efficient workflow across projects.
* Assist in overseeing allocated projects from start to finish under the guidance of the Building Supervisor.
* Assist in training and mentoring carpentry team members, with the potential to step into a supervisory role in the future.
* Maintain safe work practices in line with company policies and WHS standards.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 5–10 years' experience in carpentry, including experience leading a carpentry crew.
* Strong experience in formwork, steel fixing, concrete works, and stair construction.
* Experience working across a variety of projects, particularly high-end residential construction.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to communicate effectively with team members, trades, and supervisors.
* Current driver's licence and White Card preferred.
