Overview
The Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre (MVSC) is a multi-disciplinary specialist veterinary centre providing Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Behavioural Medicine, Surgical and Imaging services from two locations to veterinary practices within metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a casual Animal Attendant to join our fun, hard-working, close-knit team that is dedicated to the best possible patient outcomes.
As an animal attendant, you will play a critical role in the wellbeing of our patients. You will provide comfort and the basic necessities (food and water, walks, a clean bed), and support our Nurses and Specialists by keeping the hospital sparkling clean and well-stocked.
The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to assist/oversee the Specialists and Nurses in various specialist procedures throughout the day, including but not limited to MRI, CT, Chemotherapy, Endoscopy, Ultrasound and Radiography, and will be involved in the making of allergy vaccines for our Dermatology patients.
This is a casual position with the potential for further permanent hours for the right candidate. No public holidays or weekend work required. Interesting case load, a supportive work environment, and above-award wage, with opportunities to work closely with all specialty departments. Based at our Glen Waverley Centre.
Responsibilities
Provide care for veterinary patients (food, water, walks, comfortable bedding) and maintain a clean, well-stocked clinical environment.
Support Nurses and Specialists during procedures and daily operations.
Assist with or oversee procedures where appropriate and participate in vaccine preparation for Dermatology patients.
About Your Skills & Experience
Certificate II (or equivalent) in Animal Studies would be advantageous but not essential
Passion to deliver a high-level standard of animal and patient care
Basic knowledge of animal handling and behaviour
Willingness to continuously develop personal knowledge and skills relevant to the role
Effective time management and organizational skills
Self-motivated and able to work well independently or as part of a team
Driver's license
Strong attention to detail with ability to multitask
Positive attitude with a good sense of humour
