The Indigenous Programs Manager is an Aboriginal Identified role responsible for leading and overseeing all Souths Cares programs that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants, families and communities. The role is responsible for managing a team of Mentors and support staff while maximising the impact and reach of Indigenous-focused programs.

In addition to managing the current suite of Indigenous programs, the Indigenous Programs Manager will identify, develop and pursue new opportunities to expand the organisation's reach and strengthen positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through innovative programs and initiatives.

A key component of the role is the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program outcomes and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with funding agreements and contractual obligations relating to Indigenous community programs.

The Indigenous Programs Manager also plays an important leadership role in collaborating across all areas of Souths Cares to support organisational alignment and cross-program collaboration in achieving the charity's mission and strategic objectives.

The role will lead major cultural events and initiatives, including the annual Souths Cares NAIDOC Festival and NRL Indigenous Round activations, while working collaboratively with the South Sydney Rabbitohs administration and football departments to celebrate, strengthen and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture across the Club and broader community.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated experience managing and leading teams delivering community-based programs and services.

Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, support and develop staff.

Excellent written communication skills, including experience preparing program reports, funding acquittals and contractual reporting requirements.

Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including staff, funding bodies, schools and education partners, community organisations, Boards of Directors and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Strong understanding of community consultation and community engagement in line with cultural protocols.

Passion for working within community and a commitment to developing and expanding social impact programs.

Ability to work collaboratively across teams and contribute to a positive organisational culture.

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and manage all aspects of Souths Cares Indigenous programs, including program strategy, stakeholder engagement, compliance, reporting, staff performance and program delivery.

Oversee the planning and delivery of key program activities and events, including graduations, industry visits, leadership camps, cultural camps and community engagement initiatives.

Identify, develop and pursue opportunities to expand existing Indigenous programs and establish new initiatives aligned with the mission, strategic priorities and strengths of Souths Cares.

Foster collaboration and integration between Indigenous-focused programs and broader organisational programs to support a united and culturally inclusive approach across the organisation.

Recruit, mentor, support and develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff members, creating a positive and culturally safe team environment.

Represent Souths Cares at external meetings, community events and corporate events, promoting the organisation's values, programs and commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Lead the coordination and delivery of major events and activations, including the annual Souths Cares NAIDOC Festival and Indigenous Round initiatives in partnership with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Work collaboratively with the South Sydney Rabbitohs Executive Team, Souths Cares Board of Directors and senior management to identify and secure Government, corporate and philanthropic funding opportunities.

Ensure all Indigenous programs meet contractual obligations and compliance requirements, including monitoring outcomes, managing KPIs and preparing high-quality reports for funding partners and stakeholders.

Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, schools, community organisations, funding agencies and other key stakeholders.

Contribute to the strategic growth, reputation and long-term sustainability of Souths Cares programs and services.
